Talk of the 'Loot
All posts found in "For Discussion"

In 500 Words or Less is a film that follows the stories of different students applying to college. The winner of our In 500 Words or Less contest will get to be a part of this exciting film's promotional materials. If you're in high school or a freshman in college you should enter this contest because everyone has a unique and interesting story to tell about figuring out what they want to do with their lives. (For example, I have a great story about how learning to juggle is way harder than it looks.)

What are your goals for college, career, or life? For our wiser 'Looters, do you have any advice to give the young 'uns?

We're so excited for the Alicia Keys Best Individual Style contest and the Paris Hilton Hottie or Nottie contest. Paris and Alicia are both trendsetters.

However, style takes more than just a Forever 21 babydoll tunic or a Jaguar XK120. Using a combined philosophy of Tyra Banks and Christian from Project Runway, style is all about being fierce... we think.

Who do you think has the best individual style? Are there any celebrities or people that you know that have a personal style that you admire?

CandyGram #34 is about to arrive in your inboxes. In it, we ask you about your ideas for new contests.

Guys, what kinds of contests would you most likely enter? Would you like to see sports-related contests? Are there certain bands you would like to see sponsor a contest? Let us know your thoughts and ideas.

Our Max Ride Do Something contest is all about saving the environment. Going green is the new black, but we know there are some people who are really in the dark about global warming. What are some things you guys do to save the environment? What kinds of tips do you have for the SugarLoot community to live an eco-friendlier lifestyle?

The conversations in this community section have been great. You guys have brought up interesting points and perspectives and we are sure you have much more to offer. What kinds of other conversations would you like to see in this section? Are there any topics of interest that you would like to discuss with the staff and other 'Looters?

After the contestants attempted to recreate Mariah Carey's singing talent, we just had to ask your opinion about the latest Idol-er to get kicked off. Let's say Simon returned to the River Styx where he belongs and American Idol was suddenly on SugarLoot. Who do you think would win?

We want to have a discussion about our new SugarLoot Awards. We are so excited we are able to award 'Looters for their hard work and participation on SugarLoot. How do you guys feel about the SugarLoot Awards?

You can brag about your SugarLoot Awards here. Who has the most awards? Which awards are your favorites? Have any questions about earning one or suggestions for new ones? Ask them here, too.

Did anyone catch PATD on SNL this weekend? I totally thought they kicked ass.

Anyhoo, as we diligently work on our new community section for you, why not pass the time and read CandyGram # 31.

Answer this question in the newsletter and post your thoughts in the comments section.

Wanna know SugarLoot's Most Prized Possession?

It's our next issue of the CandyGram.

Our second most prized possession is your feedback.

So, answer this question and use the comment section below to discuss.

Did you guys see Drillbit Taylor yet?

If you did, do you want to hear something crazy?

I totally worked on a short video with the guy who plays the stepfather. (The masterful Ian Roberts.)

Frankly, at this point, I think we're best friends. However, he may think I was just the dork who did his Starbucks' runs.

Needless to say, SHOW ME YOUR ENTRIES. Use the comment section and show off your geek-i-tude. If you haven't entered, I strongly encourage you to disregard the film's review in Entertainment Weekly (Ms. Schwarzbaum, you need an education on the genius of Owen Wilson) and enter! The winner will get a MacBook Air (which is light enough to juggle!) and an iPod Touch. You'll be the coolest geek in A/V history.

In the next issue of the CandyGram, we want to know your SugarLoot personality.

Read the article.

Then, use the comment section in this post to answer.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming newsletter with polls, pics, people, and other things that are cool that may or may not begin with a "P".

We want to hear your feedback on the stuff featured so feel free to comment on the blog.

If you entered Best Best Friend, Best Couple, or Hottest Kiss would you share your prize? Or would you keep it for yourself?

Also, how awesome was Heather's Evanescence video? What kinds of concerts would you like to go to for winning future contests?

Post any other feedback you may have as well. The staff reads all of your comments and it makes us feel special.

Did you know you don't need to show at lot of skin to be sexy?

Just check out this entry of the day for Hottest Girl!

Okay, that's not really an entry, but some people might find these chicks sexy.

...Maybe?

Okay, maybe not.  So, as most of you can guess, Hottest Girl is one of our most popular contests.  I know, can you believe it?  People actually like looking at hot girls.  I am just as stunned as you are.

However, since SugarLoot is not an amateur "you know whatsy site" (hint: it rhymes with horn), we have to draw the line somewhere.

Yes, if Sex and the City taught us anything, there is a difference between sexy and slutty and racy and raunchy.  Bikinis?  Sexy and racy.  Wearing nothing but a smile?  That can be a little slutty and raunchy.  I hope you get the point.  (Wow. I feel like I'm having a sex talk with the daughter I never had.)

Now, ladies, this does not mean you need to replicate the outfits of those hottie-nuns above.  Unless you want to, which is fine.  Er... I'm sure you'd get 10's...

However, I would recommend not exposing parts of your body that are susceptible to... infections.

Also, I would try experimenting with all the different types of apparel that can cover your chest that are not your own hands... or someone elses.  (Did you know there's a thing called "tops"?)

If you wish to expose more of your body, which is fine, there are plenty of other websites that welcome that sort of thing.  I bet you that you probably know at least one person who has all of them bookmarked.  However, SugarLoot wants our content to be suitable for everyone, including the under 18-ers.

Here are some examples of what I think can totally win Hottest Girl.

(Okay, I'm justing kidding about that last one.)

However, I want to open this up to discussion. What do YOU think is sexy and what crosses the line? Give your honest opinion.

Hey guys. Nugz here. (Well, who else would it be?) If you've been checking your inboxes you may have noticed a brand spanking new super-duper totally awesome newsletter.

However, we don't have a title for it!

We've been going back and forth with some different ideas:

"The CandyGram"

"The Zine @ SugarLoot"

"The SugarLoot Times"

"The SugarLoot Dispatch"

Or

"Please For the Love of God Don't Delete Us. We're Not Spam. This Isn't a Scam!"

(As you can tell, the last suggestion was mine. Yes, I am a literary genius.)

Anyway, we need your help! Please comment and tell us what you think the name of the newsletter should be. Feel free to suggest some new titles, too!
