Yang- Essay winners Announced 's Profile
This is a quick message to Jen who I cannot answer directly: I did state that the essays had to be a certain number number of words and could possible be DQ if they were over or short. However, I had 3 judges who were the ones who chose to DQ or not as I did not judge. There were at least 3 essays I can think of that were over 200 words. I stand behind my 3 judges and their decision on the scoring of the essays. And like I said before all my contests are suppose to be for fun. -Yang on Wednesday night
If you were one of those who were kind enough to vote for any of my last 2 non Sl contests, please let me send me which ONE entry you would like me to promote and vote on daily. They can be SL or non SL. I will return try to do dailies with them for at least 2 weeks.
Thank you for your patience. Last week was very hectic for me but things are almost normal again. I am announcing the winners to the essay contest below. I am going to revamp my profile as Sl as changed everything around and it doesn't look good any more. To everyone to voted for my non Sl entry, I will try to do promotions. Please be patient as that will take a little bit of time. I am trying to cut back on Sl time so I will not be doing dailies for anyone but those who helped voted for my contest. - Yang on Wed
Winners to Essay Contest Announced
Thank you to all the participants and the judges for my first essay contest. There were a total of 11 essays sent in. The actual point difference (before factoring in the bonus 10 points for the top essays for each judge) was half a point between first place and second place. There were many great essays and I although I didn't judge, I did enjoy reading them all.
And I am happy to announce the winners:
Congratulations to Jandri for winning first place.
The following is her winning essay:
Essay #10- Jandri- http://www.sugarloot.com/profile/548191183
The Race....
by Jandri
Compitions are like an addictive race, a race againts other that you've never met, a race of being the best, a race of being in the top. What does it mean to WIN? Does it mean your better than others, or does it simply mean that what you entered is good in the eyes of the voters?
I can say alot of the feelings I had when I came so close to winning and due to a small fault of living at a wrong place in A huge world I had to see how all my hard work and dedication went up in smoke. You know the saying of "taking candy from a baby"? Believe me I will never do that, taking candy from a baby. It hurts, its a burning feeling in your heart, inside your throut, your eyes even your ears. What does it mean to me to win? Its nice to know that what you did was good, but to me the whole meaning of winning is RECOGNITION, being recognized for what you've done, does the prizes count? Yes sure it does, but just being acknowledge and apraised makes it so much more rewarding. It makes you feel that other see what you are doing and that they appreciate your efforts. And next time you will try your best to do even better.
Life is a race, a race to be the best in everything that you do, being the best in school, the best cheerleader, the captain of the baseball-, volleyballteam, A leader at school, class president and yet, all those things would'nt mean anything if people don't respect you nor your efforts, but to gain respect you need to show respect. Other might feel the same way as you, just wanted to be recognized for their efforts and if you can respect that and can support them, You've won the race.
You have won.
And congratulations to Patty for winning 2nd place.

♪ ♫ ~ I’m a Winner, You’re a Winner, Wouldn’t You Like to be a Winner too? ~ ♫ ♪
Winning to me, means overcoming challenges in life. It means, committing to a game-plan, planning strategically and focusing on the reward.
Winning doesn’t always mean that someone else has to lose. I like helping others reach their goals by encouraging them to do their best each day. My commitment to my daughter is to teach her how to read. We read every day. I feel like a winner at the end of the week when we sit down and read a story together. I am helping my daughter overcome her learning disability. She is a winner in the world of illiteracy. There are no losers here.
A winner is someone who never quits! I’ve been reading to my daughter for 14 years now and she is only at a 1st grade reading level, it’s been a long, frustrating road for me but at least she can read.
Having a positive attitude in life makes you feel like a winner no matter what crosses your path. SMILE throughout your day and share your smile with others – it’s contagious!
Jandri will receive a prize worth app. $20 since she lives out of the country. And Patty will receive an envelope package for doing mail in sweeps from Joanne.
Thank you for making the essay contest a success. And I hopefully I'll be able to host another contest for this month. So stay tune and check my profile often.
Thank you!

UPDATED INFO on CONTEST:
Okay so I am revamping this contest a bit. As of right now- Tuesday, August 19th- there are only 3 entries in the contest. I think that that's pretty good odds for your chance to win. First place winner will also have the option to chose from the 6 months premium membership to the website that offers tons of contests and sweeps. Or a $20 gift card to any store that I can buy from such as Walmart, Target, JC Penney's, Sears, or Amazon.com. This is the same exact site that I found the fila contest and won a $200 gift card and the $1,000 gift card to fila.com. And yes, it also the same one where I won a design contest and just got my 80 GB ipod classic. I'm telling you this because even though Sugarloot is a great site, they can only hold so many contests. You will have a greater chance of winning entering other contests and having your SL freiends help you win if it requires voting. Joanne has been kind enough to also offer a 2nd place prize which is a set of mailing supplies for entering sweeps through the mail. Again anyone is eligible to enter as long as they are a SL member. If you are under 18 and should you decide on a gift card, I do need your parents permission before mailing it out to you. Also everyone who has entered will have their names posted at the bottom of this scroll box.

I'm a big believer in giving back. It seems that the more you give in life, the more you get back. And I really enjoyed the last few contests I had- the more popular one being the Golden Ticket and the movie giveaway. As always with all of my contests this is suppose to be fun. So please keep that in mind and have fun with it.
READ THE RULES FIRST.
If you don't you may find yourself disqualified. And I wouldn't want you to be.
Some of you know that I like to enter contests that are non-Sl. The reason being that I have already won 2 Sl contests and also because Sl contests take a lot of time. It's nice to try the variety of contests out there. Many are fun, even if you only win chips. So how do you find all of those cools contests to enter? Well, you can be like me and look deep into the pits of the internet and see what's out there. Or you can save time by winning this contest. The prize is a 6 months membership to a internet site that will give you galores of contests and sweeps. Those who voted for my Fila got a sample listing of what kinds of contests are available. If you already have membership to this site, then you may still win this and choose to gift anyone else with it.
THIS CONTEST ID FOR YOU TO WRITE AN ESSAY ON WHAT WINNING MEANS TO YOU. (Does not have to mean winning a SL contest, unless you want it to be.)
Here are the guidelines for the essay:
1. Must be 25-200 words. No more, no less.
2. Must have a title.
3. You may start submitting your essays to me immediately through Wednesday, August 27th.
4. Make sure that I send you a confirmation back to let me know that I received your entry. As entries have been known ot be lost in the Great SL Void.
5. Winner will be announced on September 1st right here on my profile. Any Sler may enter. However to be fair and to spread the wins, if you have won one of my previous contest, you may not win another prize from me for 6 months. Contests will be judged by our 3 gracious judges: Bobbi, Jeff, and Joanne. And in the case of a tie, I will step in to be the tie-breaker vote.
Essays will be based on the following:
10% Title
10% Grammar
20% Creativity/ Orginality
60% Content
* In general you'll want to write about something that inspires versus writing something that sounds desperate.
Any questions just ask me. Good Luck everyone!
