(also chapters 3 through 7 will be released in september, sorry for the long wait im going on a two month vaca :) cant wait!)

Chapter 1

Ok, so I’m definitely your average high school freshman. I honestly have no idea what to expect. I mean, my best friend, Amie, moved last week, things haven’t been all too easy. Starting high school knowing almost no one is a sad situation. I’ve lived in one place all my life, here, Florida. Watching my friends come and go.
“Hi Janice”, yelled Mary a crossed the hall. She ran over to me like I was popular and she wanted to be my friend, but I’d never be..
“You want to hang out after school today?” she asked.
“Um, sure,” I replied. I kind of walked away thinking, wow, high school might be fun. Being tall, people mistake my age a lot, meaning that I could pass for 16. Even though I’m only 14. In my homeroom class we did a long introduction.
“Hi, I’m Janice Witherspoon, I’m 14, I enjoy sports, and I’m good at making new friends.” That’s all I could get myself to say. When Mary’s turn came, I listened closely.
“I’m Mary Eleen Frost and I just moved here from Florida. I like dancing and playing at the beach. I am 14.” Then she sat down. Everyone else was boring, except Neil. He is 15, likes skateboarding and he’s lived here is whole life. I thought he was cute. He has dark blonde, wavy hair and he was about five feet seven inches tall. I have brown hair to my shoulders; I’m 5ft. 6in. and very slim. Mary leaned over and whispered to me,
“I think I’m going to like it here.” I smiled at her, I was happy. At lunch I somehow managed to find a seat next to Mary. I figured since she was pretty much the only person I knew, I could sit there.
“Hi Mary, is this seat open?” I asked.
“Yeah, come sit down.” Mary was pretty nice. She was a little bit shorter than me with blonde hair and shiny green eyes. She had fair, pale skin, not tanned. Which I thought was weird since she lived next to the beach and said she hung out there a lot.
“What do you want to do when you come over tonight?”

“Well, first I have to ask if I can come over, you know.”
She said “yeah.” The lunch bell rang just then and the cafeteria went wild with excitement and movement. I pushed my way through the crowd and got out into the hall. There was hardly anytime to even get to my locker. I had to hurry if I wanted to get to English class on time. That’s been my favorite class since fifth grade. I love to write and read. I carry a notebook and pens with me wherever I go. Ok, I made it! I just got in a seat right as the bell for fourth period rang. But little did I notice until after the bell rang that I was right next to Neil.
“Class, pay attention, we need to work on our first assignment.” That’s what Ms.Blair said, my ninth grade English teacher. She had an odd accent, I couldn’t tell where she was from. Then before I knew it she hollowed my name.
“Janice Witherspoon, come to the front.” I walked up to her slowly, not knowing what I was in for.
“I heard over summer that you attended ‘S. Johnson Camp of WR’. I’m truly honored to have you in my class.” I didn’t know what to say so I shook my head yes and went back so my seat. Why was that such a big deal, I thought. No sooner did I sit down, Neil leaned over and whispered,
“So I guess you’re the best writer in the class”

“I don’t think so”
, that’s all I could get myself to say. Ms.Blair read some rules to us and told us to copy the work assignments down. I wasn’t even done writing them when the bell rang to switch classes. I grabbed my books and bag and headed for the door.
“Janice, later in the year bring us some of your writing”, Ms. Blair said as I made my way to the door. Again, I shook my head yes and walked off.

Chapter 2

On my way home, I kept thinking about which pieces of writing to bring back to class, and I finally decided on the entire notebook. I hurried up the steps of my porch and flung open the door eager to get in. As soon as my mom heard me she hollered down the stairs at me.
“How was the first day?”
“Great”
, I replied. Gosh, I got so caught up in telling you about my first day I forgot to tell you about me. You already know I’m fourteen. I’m five feet and six inches tall with short curly brown hair and bright shinny blue eyes. I’m thin and curvy, not very tan, but not at all pale. “Janice, phone”, my mom hollered from the top of the stairs. I ran up the stairs and took the phone from my mom. “Hello?” I spoke into the phone, not even knowing who it was.
“Janice, it’s Mary, can you come over?”
“Hang on, I’ll ask.”
“Mom can I go over to Mary’s house for a while?”
“Ok, just be back before dinner time.”
“Hey, Mary, I’ll be right over.” I hung up the phone and ran outside into the warm afternoon. I opened the garage door, jumped on my bike, and rode down the driveway. Around two corners and down a long narrow street, I finally got o Mary’s house. Mary was sitting on the steps of her porch. I parked my bike and went up to her.
“Hey Mary, sorry I took me so long.”
“That’s ok, come in.”
Mary led me into her house and into her bedroom.
“Wow, this is so cool”, I blurted out.
“Thanks, we spent the first 3 weeks we moved in working on it. It used to look horrible.”Mary exclaimed. Her room was a dusty gold color, like the very last bit of a sunset. The trim of her two windows and around her door was a light, sky blue. She had her bed against the wall with a greenish-brownish quilt on it. In the corner opposite her walk-in closet was a little desk with colored stationary laid out and a bottle of pens on the edge. Everything was so organized and precise. Like a fairytale in reality.
“So what do you want to do?”

“Well, what is there do to, I don’t know."

“I have play station 2 down the hall, a TV, bikes, what do you like to do?”

“Oh anything Mary.”

“Ok then, how about a game of PS2?”

“Sure.”

So Mary led me out of her room, down the hall way and into a little room with a TV and a couch. We played that silly racing game until I had to go home. I said goodbye and rode my bike home. As soon as I finished dinner I excused myself and went up to my room. I should tell you what it looks like. Its light blue with white trim and posters are hung everywhere. My bed has white and blue, never made sheets. My desk is near my tiny closet and I have a boom box on my shelf with a few books in the corner. Not at all like Mary’s room, but it satisfied me well.
