Slaughter poem...sad, and unfortunately true
Current mood: distressed
Category: Pets and Animals
You're leaving today, loaded & gone
In the back of a truck, the sound of a storm
From grass underfoot...to the horror beyond
We carry your pain, we sing your song
We know where you're going, we worry your fate
From birth to the stable, stable to plate
Hands that once brushed you, fed you and cared
Could they really have loved you, sweet gentle mare?
For there on the kill floor you birth a newlife
Minutes from death seconds from...knife
Your friends huddle round to comfort your pain
One tiny babe, no mercy, no name
A mother so frightened, the end is begun
Her little one broken before he could run
Will he ever feel sunshine or hear a kind word?
Will he live before death, will his cry be heard?
We're here for you, fighting...we won't let you down
Each moment you suffer we stand our ground
For every lost soul the world sheds a tear
For young, fit or old, compassion is near
We speak for you plight, we sign for your freedom
Holding on tight for right and reason
An unbearable shame, an unbreakablevow
End slaughter for horses, stop killing, stop...NOW!
