The Acting Contest
After almost an entire month of worrying and waiting, the acting contest is finally here. However, a lot of people were disappointed because of the prize: headshots or a modeling portfolio worth up to $400. Yes, it's not an audition for a new movie or a garunteed role, but it's still a way to get yourself out there, isn't it? So far the talent has been overwhelming, and as of the writing of this article the top ten entries are:
Emma, Kerry, Taylor (picture is at left), Courtney, Melissa Marie, Kelcy, Grace, Emily, Stacy, and Casey.
FUSION's favorites for the acting contest are Taylor, Sarah, Cate, and Yelizaveta.
Upcoming Contests
So far, the only upcoming contest is the Prettiest Eyes Contest hosted by Barbizon. So grab your camera and snap a picture of your big baby blues, or greens, or hazels, or browns, or greys if you're cool enough to have them!
Interview
Fusion Magazine: What was your first reaction to the acting contest?
Kerry: My first reaction was "WOOT!" unlike some people, I was far from dissappointed. I know it wasnt a gauranteed spot in a movie, etc. but it still was something! I'm not the richest person ever so getting these headshots would mean the world and beyond to me.
FM: Why do you think you were the first ones to come up with the daily 10s idea? And do you think it's worked?
K: Well, I wasn't exactly the first person to come up with it. But i was probably second :) but anywho, I guess i was just so excited for the contest that I gathered dailies to keep myself pumped :D but in the end, I dont think it worked :[ first off, hardly anybody entered because they were dissappointed. and second off, the ones that did enter hardly kept their word of giving me daily tens :[
FM: What made you choose the monologue you did?
K: Well, I knew i could portray it the best. I'm really good at anger/sad scenes so i was able to reach the highest potential I could reach. Plus, A Cindrella Story is absolutely fabulous so I just had to do it :)
FM: Why did you band together with Casey, Courtney, and Slynnie rather than go at it on your own?
K: We thought that if we band together, we could get more votes. Also, we three were all against downvoting and seriously wanted to put a stop at it. I didn't do it alone since it's almost impossible to win anything on sugarloot without help :\
FM: Has being in this contest changed you in any way?
K: Of course! I've realized that you can't achieve anything by just sitting around and hoping... it just isnt enough! Also, I learned that I shouldn't let anyone [my family] put me down my dream of becoming an actress. Besides, I don't need anyone else's approval but mine :)
FM: Have you ever felt like quitting?
K:Oh boy, indeed! Its definitly crossed my mind. But now that i realize that giving up wont do you any good, I've decided to stick with it :D
FM: Finally, any advice to give to the readers?
K: Well, first off, I've heard tons of girls saying how they would dream to become an actress. Yet, they arent doing anything about it! So my advice to them is you can't achieve anything by just sitting around and watching tv while you dream about becoming famous. You can read any article in magazines and such and they all talk about how all the celebrities today started when they were really young. So hurry up folks! :D

Make-Up
This spring, the whole point of make-up is to give you a natural, fresh-faced look rather than a barbie doll or clubber. Swipe on a pink tinted lipgloss like Beauty Rush by Victoria's Secret's Strawberry Fizz Lipgloss ($7.50, or 3 for $15). Perk up your lashes just a little bit with Maybelline's Soft and Full Mascara ($4.99), and only add eyeliner if it's subtle and a natural color, preferrably brown. Finish up your eyes with a nude colored eyeshadow like HIP by L'Oreal's eyeshadow duo in Shady ($7.00), and then swipe some bronzer like Very Sexy Makeup by Victoria's Secret's Mosaic Bronzer in Natural on the apples of your cheeks, and you're good to go!
Clothes and Accessories
This spring's color is pink, so you'd probably want to have at least one pink item in your closet. But what to do if you're not a girly girl? Wear a funky, graphic tee like this abstracr pink piano tee from Kohls ($10). Another must have is the sundress, and an adorable one like this white lace dress from Wetseal ($24.50) is perfect for a trip to the beach or a night on the town. And although denim shorts are still totally cute, you need to have at least one pair of patchwork shorts like these from Wetseal ($19.50). Finally, since pool season is coming up, you might be uncomfortable with your body still. So grab a cute and fun one piece like the one from dELiA*s ($33.50) and look great without showing too much skin. After all this all you need are the perfect accessories, like these wedge heels from dELiA*s ($44), this canvas tote from Charlotte Russe ($14.99), this necklace from Target ($8.74), and these neon drop earrings from Wetseal ($5).
Healthy Snack Choices
It's everywhere. And it's real. America is getting fatter and fatter by the year. And just because we're younger does not mean that we are exempt from this! We need to do our part to stay healthy, and eating filling snacks with less than 100 calories will help. So rather than grabbing that bag of chips from the panty whenever you're feeling a little empty, snack on these instead:
1/2 Plain Bagel (75cal)
1.5cups Microwave Popcorn (55cal)
8 Small Pretzel Twists (55cal)
1 Medium Apple (80cal)
1cup Blueberries (80cal)
1 Large Raw Carrot (30cal)
1/2 Medium Banana (50cal)
10 Bite Sized Baked Tortilla Chips (55cal)
23 Oyster Crackers (60cal)

Sexually Transmitted Diseases
It was recently proved in a much talked about study that about one in four American teens has some STD, the majority being HPV (human papillomavirus). This is a serious issue, especially when it comes to HPV because it's the leading cause of cervical cancer. Why are teens so widely affected and infected, and what can you do to stop it? What are the basic signs?
Protecting Yourself
There's only two ways to protect yourself if you're sexually active, although you could easily avoid all the trouble by choosing abstinance. However, if you choose to experiment, always use a condom. I can't say it enough. It's the only form of contraception that not only keeps you from getting pregnant but keeps you from catching any STDs from your partner. The other form of protection is a vaccine called Gardasil, which you may know from all the "One Less!" commercials. It is a series of three shots which keeps you from getting the four most common and most likely to cause cervical cancer strains of HPV.
Most Common STDs and Symptoms
HPV: sometimes warts, but other strains have no symptoms at all.
Genital Herpes: itchy and painful blisters that come and go. Some people may not notice if they have the milder version.
Chlamydia: in most girls, nothing. But some girls may have abdominal pains and pains during urination, itchiness down there, and weird discharge.
Syphillis: an ulcerlike sore down there, sometimes on the mouth or chest as well. If left untreated, a rash and fever may follow.
Who Wore It Better?
So was it Juno star and Broadway actress Jennifer Garner who gets your vote in her darling white London Temperly frock, or does curvy Carmen Electra, diva of downright bad movies in the turquoise version, who gets your vote?
